President of Urhobo Progress Union (youth wing), Comrade Efemena Umukoro, has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State over the inauguration of the Operation Delta Hawk, a new security outfit put together by the Delta state government.
The Operation Delta Hawk was inaugurated on Thursday in Asaba with the charge to fight criminality and make Delta a safer place for residents.
The members were drawn from the police, the army and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

Umukoro, who is also a member of the Delta State Community Policing Committee, said the decision of the governor was a good one as it would help to reduce criminal tendencies in the state.
The youth president told Emerald News on phone that the Urhobo people of Delta Central have been hit with cultism and armed robbery, hence the inauguration of the Operation Delta Hawk will go along way to tame the wave of cultism in the Urhobo land.
He also said that farmers in Urhobo land have been afraid of going to the farm following the killings orchestrated by the killer Fulani herdsmen in their bushes.
But with the inauguration of the OPDH and the power given to them by the governor, farmers in Urhobo land will be encouraged to go back to their farms.
He commended the Delta State government for the decision, saying it was a bold step which will go a long way to fighting criminal tendencies and all cult related activities in the state, with special reference to Delta central senatorial district.
He said the officials picked from the different security formations are lucky to be the pioneer members of this noble assignment, just as he called them to be patriotic in carrying out their activities.
He commended the governor and the secretary to the state government, Barrister Chiedu Ebie, who was the brain behind the inauguration of the security outfit.
He said December 10 will remain a day to be remembered in Delta state.
Furthermore, he appealled to members of the public, traditional rulers, youth leaders and all stakeholders to support the new security outfit, stating that security is local and information gathering is essential in aiding the effectiveness of the new security outfit.
