Heavy rainstorm over the weekend struck the secretariat of Ethiope East Local Government Area in Delta State.

Buildings in the council headquarters at Isiokolo and other houses owned by individuals in the community, just as the council workers called on the Delta State Gpvernment to come to their aid by renovating the buildings destroyed in the council headquarters.

According to sources in the community, the cause of the damages was attributed to natural disaster.

Speaking further, the source said, “around 3:30pm on the fateful day, l was with my peers in one of the drinking joints when the rain started falling gradually. It was not even a heavy downpour, but the wind was very strong. This left many buildings at the council headquarters and in the community destroyed.”

However, some of the council workers who spoke to our journalists when they visited to see the damage done, said Delta State Government should come to their rescue over the damaged done as a result of the disaster.

Adding: “We are appealing to Delta State Governor, His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa to come to our rescue as a result of this natural disaster. As you can see now, our office roof has been blown off and we are outside under the shade doing our work which is not fair because the rain can fall at any time.”

They also said, Governor Okowa should try as much as possible to consider them and renovate it for them, noting that is not ideal for a worker to be under the shade while carrying out his duty as a council worker.
