First Ever All Okpe Musicians Album, Cultural Dance Group Festival Launched In Sapele

As part of efforts to promote and sustain the moral values of the Okpe culture, the Okpe Cultural / Traditional Musicians Union and Orators recently launched the first ever all Okpe musicians album and Okpe cultural dance group festival.

The auspicious ceremony took place at the Sapele Athletic Club which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life.

Indeed, culture is the way of life of the people and this the Okpe people have been able to sustain over the years.

According to the host and sponsor of the event, Chief (Dr.) Anthony Aghogho Owumi (JP) , The Omamigho of Okpe Kingdom in his address, Said that it is a rear privilege to be the convener and promoter of the first ever all Okpe Musician launch and Okpe Cultural Dance Group Festival.

Chief Dr. Anthony Owumi added that he got the inspiration from his Late Father, Chief Benson T. Owumi (JP, ) “The Adani of Okpe Kingdom”, whose dream and vision was to see the growth and development of the Okpe Kingdom, maintaining that project will be done yearly and will be part of the Umogu Annual Festival and in memory of his Late father, Chief Benson T. Owumi as a lover of Okpe Culture and Tradition.

It was gathered that the Igbegbe Owumi Cultural Dance group is also owned by Chief Dr. Anthony Owumi aimed at promoting the Okpe culture as conceptualised by his late father.

It is worthy of note that there were about 32 Okpe musicians that produced these all ever Okpe musicians album called the United States of Okpe kingdom group.

The ceremony featured alot of activities which include: launching of the Okpe musical album, cultural display by various Okpe musicians, presentation of awards to deserving Okpe illustrious sons and daughters among others.

Dignitaries present were. His Royal Majesty, The Orodje of Okpe kingdom Orhue 1 Cfr, Mni represented by High Chief V.A Natufe, the most senior chief in Okpe kingdom, chairman of the occasion, Prof Chief Sam Oyovbaire, former Minister of Information and Culture and Chief Chris Odiete.

Others are: Hon (High Chief) Felix Anirah, Member representing Sapele constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Olorogun Minus Okorodudu, Olorogun Mohamed Adjarho Oyibo, Prince Chuks Igelenyah, Chief Peter Asagba, Chief William Avwigborighe, Chief Walter Oyo, Hon Chief Margret Unukegwo, RT. Rev Bishop Goddey Iboyi Okpokporo (JP), Mr. Kingsley Komori, Chief Benjamin Omuvwe (JP) Mr. Charles Eyeregba (UK), among other top personalities.
