New Year Eve Protests: Sowore Says Buhari Regime Is Scared, As Court Turns Down Bail Application

Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has been denied bail and wmhas been sent to the Force CIID facility in Abuja.

Recall that Sowore was arrested on New Year eve alongside others for holding a crossover protest demanding for good governance.

The police dragged him before a Magistrate Court in Abuja, saying that Sowore was determined to forcefully overthrow a democratically elected government.

The magistrate on Monday ordered that he and others be remanded in Kuje Correctional Center.

Moves to secure his bail today failed.

A tweet by Sowore confirms that he was denied bail on Tuesday.

His tweet read: “We just ended a weird court bail proceeding, the regime is scared and doing everything to keep us detained and hurt, but these acts won’t delay our liberation as a people, rather it will hasten it!

“A magistrate just ruled that we should be remanded in @PoliceNG instead of bail.”

He was sent to the Dice CIID facility on the grounds that he said they were denied access to food and water.

The magistrate will determine if he is granted bail on the 18th of January, 2020.
