Police Nab Keke Rider For Armed Robbery In Warri

A tricycle rider in Warri, Delta State, Kinsley Godday, aged 23 yrs, has been arrested for armed robbery.

According to a statement by the Acting Police Pubic Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Edafe Bright, on Thursday, a distress call was received by the DPO ‘A’ Division, Warri, CSP T.Y. Mahmud, from a bus driver (name withheld ) in the town, saying that while he was on his routine transport business with passengers on board along Okere Road, Warri, when a tricycle with registration number SGD 430 VC blocked his bus and one of the occupants brought out a cut-to-size gun and dispossessed him and his passengers of their phones and other valuables.

The bus driver is said to have raised alarm for help and in the process the suspects took to their heels with the stolen items, while the driver of the tricycle was arrested.

The statement adds that interestingly, the same suspect, Godday before now was arrested in connection with a foiled armed robbery attack where police men from ‘A’ division Warri recovered a tricycle and two empty cartridges.

The statement added that Gooday rushed to the station and reported that armed men snatched his tricycle from him, adding that the tricycle was released to him after proving ownership of the said Tricycle, adding that this time around, he was caught in the act.

Investigation and interrogation with a view to arrest the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.

In a related development, acting on a tip off and intelligence gathering, the Divisional Police Officer, Kwale Division, SP Adie Bissong mobilized patrol teams and some members of the public that have been helping the police to crack down criminal elements in Kwale axis, on a raid in which the leader of a notorious armed robbery gang that specializes in robbery/snatching of motorcycles was arrested.

The suspect, Ossai Bright, aged 21 was arrested along Adege street opposite Ndokwa west Local Government Council while attempting to snatch a motorcycle,.

A cut-to -size locally made gun, a knife and one cartridge was recovered from him.

Investigation is ongoing while frantic effort is in place to arrest other members of his gang.
