Federal Accountant General Makes U-Turn, Says Ibori Loot Yet To Get To DTSG
By Daniel Dafe, Abraka
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), has said that the recovered £4.2m Ibori Loot from the United Kingdom was yet to get to Delta State government, contrary to an earlier claim by the OAGF, Mr Ahmed Idris, that said the money had been sent to the state government.
A press statement on Wednesday signed by
Henshaw Ogubike mnipr, Director (Information, Press and Public Relations), said there was a need “to put the records straight regarding the widely circulated media report on the £4.2m Ibori Loot.”
The statement titled: ‘RE: £4.2m IBORI LOOT: PUTTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT’ added that “the issue of the £4.2m Ibori loot has not been properly resolved.”

“The money is still being awaited, after which the issues around it will be resolved before further action is taken. For now, no money has been returned to Delta state,” the statement added.
Adding: “This explanation is without prejudice to the proceedings at the public hearing that took place yesterday during which the AGF was only making general comments about recoveries relating to State Governments.
“This is the true position as regards the £4.2m Ibori Loot.”
Recall that on Wednesday, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa debunked the earlier statement of the OAGF, saying it was untrue, but thanked the Federal Government for expressing the will to send the money to the coffers of the state.
