Ndokwa Nation Faults Exclusion From Public Hearing On 1999 Constitution Review In Delta

Members of Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality in Delta State have expressed their displeasure over the ommision of Ndokwa ethnic nationality among those invited to participate in the proposed Public Hearing on the Review of 1999 Constitution slated for Delta State on Wednesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 27, 2021.

In a statement signed by the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), PRO, Engr. Eugene Agadaga, the apex ethnic union pointed out that other ethnic nationalities in the state were specifically mentioned in the invitation for the exercise except Ndokwa that was lumped under “Anioma”.

The statement futher explained that Anioma does not represent the identity of Ndokwa people, adding that Ndokwa people have their perculiar challenges and aspirations outside Anioma (Delta North) agenda.

The NNU therefore, requested the Office of the Secretary to Delta State Government to effect necessary corrections in the public invitation and treat the Ndokwa ethnic nationality like their counterparts in the state in the interest of fairness, equity and justice.

While pleading with Ndokwa sons and daughters to refrain from anger over the ommision by theSSG’s Office, the NNU expressed hope and optimism that the SSG’s Office will definitely correct the mistake to give Ndokwa Nation her place of recognition within Delta State polity.
