ACP Shinkafi Urges Isiokolo Police Division To Be More Dedicated To Security Service 

…Commends SP Onyesome’s Efforts

The Ugheli Area Commander, ACP Lawal A. Shinkafi, has urged the Isiokolo Police Division to be more proactive and dedicated to the security service so as to ensure more peace in the area.

The ACP who stated this at Isiokolo Division in Ethiope East LGA, Delta State when he paid a familiarisation visit to the station, equally hailed the Divisional Policer Officer (DPO), of the division SP Onyesome Eluonye on his achievement so far in the area of security.

The area commander, during the visit said, “my purpose of coming is to officially take Isiokolo division back to Ughelli Area command, and that is my primary aim of being here today, and before l make the move, l called the DPO that l am coming all alone, but he said, the people of the community still want to receive me and l listened to the DPO.”

Continuing, “Police is Police, anywhere, but what matters is the security of life and property, and l am assuring you of our support in terms of security service in order to ensure peace.”

Speaking further, the Police officer also called on the people of the community, the vigilante, and other security outfits to cooperate and work with the Police so as to streghten the security service in the area.

He also used the medium to appeal to various community leaders who were present to continue to support the security agencies for proper security services. 

On his part, the executive chairman of Ethiope East LGA, Hon. Pharm. Victor Oforbrukweta, who was represented by the Secretary to the council, Hon. Aganbi, commended the Area Commander and the DPO’s efforts and called on them to be more focused in the security services. The council boss also said that the council will continue to  support the security agencies for effective security service of the council area.

However, in the same vein, the Area Commander who also visited His Royal Majesty (HRM), Ogurimerime Ukori 1, Mike Omeru, (JP), Ovie of Agbon kingdom at his palace in Isiokolo also assured of proper security service of the kingdom and Ethiope East.

In his remarks the Royal father prayed for him and the DPO for a better service delivery, assuring the Police officer of the kingdom’s support to the security service in the interest of peace. 

Therefore, in a welcome address presented by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Onyesome Eluonye said “as l took over the mantle of leadership.of the Division as Deputy Superintended of Police on 8th May, 2020, the strength of the division was 32, but has been increase to 48 now.”

“The division covers a vast area that has been bounded with the following divisions, Agbarho, Ufuoma, Orerokpe, Orogun and Abraka division respectively, and we have been able to record some remarkable achievements in the area under review which are: Arrest of some ritualists that killed one eight (8) year old girl who was buried in a shalow grave at Kokori. The case has been transferres to SCIID Asaba, arrest of armed robbery suspects that specialize at snatching of vehicles from Benin and the suspect has been transferred to Edo state command for interrogation, arrest of a rapist one Ovodo “M” from Kokori and others, case transfered to SCIID Asaba.”

Others are, “arrest of one notorious kidnapper from Kokori who escaped from Maximum Oko prison, Benin during the End SARS protest and he was rearrested and taking back to Edo state command, recovering of stolen/abandoned vehicle at Okuloho community and the case transfered to SCIID, Asaba and then arrest of vandals of BEDC equipment at Okuloho community; case transfered to Asaba.” 

Speaking further, the DPO said upon his efforts the division also faced with some challenges which he said include lack.of computer and office equipment, lack of barrack accommodation for officers, insufficient arms and ammunition for officers and men of the division, lack of serviceable patrol vehicles and inadequate fencing of the police station.

The DPO however, called for the support of the division for proper service delivery and he commended the area commander and his entourage for the visit.

The executive and members of Police Communiy Relation Committee (PCRC), in Ethiope East headed by Chief Dr. Sunday Oke and others were also on ground to welcome the Ughelli Area commander.
