…Urges Adonishaka Community To Think Development, Peaceful Coexistence

Says Peaceful Coexistence, Goodwill Are Better Than Winning Court Cases

The Traditional Council of Chiefs in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State has been called upon to be firm in their decision making and taking while ensuring that peace reigns supreme in their communities.

The Executive Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government, Hon (Barr) C.S Possible Ajede made this call while addressing a joint peace building meeting between the council, Oil & Gas Management Committee (OGMC), Ogbe-Uzu/Adonishaka community, Platform Petroleum Ltd and Power Gas Ltd, Ebedei.

He noted that traditional council of chiefs in any community ought to be firm in their leadership and be neutral in handling issues that threaten the peaceful coexistence of the people residing and doing business there.

“Our traditional rulers council should be firm; truthful and just in their activities in their respective communities because once we have just, fair and truthful chiefs most of the issues rocking some of our communities will not be there,” he stated.

Barr Ajede further decried the fact that, Adonishaka community chose to continue to write petitions and engage themselves with court cases instead of drawing up a developmental framework and pursue same with the companies operating in their land.

The council boss who presided over the peace building meeting that lasted over three hours stated that, winning court cases is not as important as peaceful coexistence and goodwill of the people.

“Peace in any community is more important than winning any case in court. Peace is inevitable as we can barely live without it; we should all embrace peace and coexist as brothers and sisters.” he said.

According to him, “this life is a stage, whether we like it or not, you play your role and one day, you will exit the scene. The best way to live life therefore, is to coexist and live in peace with everyone as much as you can. Let us embrace peace and plan on how to develop our community,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chairman has appealed to the Emeke Zakus and Chukwunalu Isaac Chucks factions of OGMC in Ogbe-Uzu/Adonishaka community in Ebedei to go back home and resolve whatever leadership issue that is besieging the community and until then, Barr Ajede has directed that the oil companies operating in the community should cease from interfacing with any party on behalf of Ogbe-Uzu/Adonishaka.

Also, the chairman advised the Ogbe-Uzu/Adonishaka community to thread carefully in the way and manner they handle issues that are still before the court as according to him, such cases can only be followed to a logical conclusion or withdrawn before anybody can make inputs on such issues.
