The Necessity For A Paradigm Shift From The Twenty Four Years Of The Ibori Political Dynasty In Delta State
It’s a natural phenomenon that, whatever has a beginning must surely have an end. Over fourteen years ago, His Excellency, the erstwhile Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanafe Ibori championed the rationale of an *egalitarian* Delta state when he diplomatically berthed the rotation of power among the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
Although the idea was very unpopular in some political quarters then and was received with grudges, yet, it has proven to be one of the best legacies of “Odidigboigbo’s” administration. This is mainly because of the peace and tranquility the state has witnessed since then. The acceptance and popularity of the rotational system spoke volume in the elections of His Excellencies, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan and Dr. Ifeanyin Okowa in 2007/2011 and 2015/2019 from Delta South and Delta North respectively.
Albeit, the successes in both elections resulting in the consequent administrations mentioned above did not come without fierce oppositions from mainly the ethnic home and Senatorial District of the man who was practically driving the process, the “Odidigboigbo of Africa”.

It was the resolve of the good people of the state that prevailed over the disgruntled and selfish politicians who are the enemies of the state.
Now that power has gone round the three Senatorial District of the state and the twenty years Ibori political dynasty is fully served, it’s only natural that, a new slate begins with the 2023 gubernatorial election.
In conclusion, a new Delta state with a renewed vigour, energy and progressive dispositions is non-negotiable. A new dawn in Delta state must not continue with the old order.
