Following the release of the guidelines for the forthcoming Congresses in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), leaders of the party in Delta State under the aegis of Delta State APC Leaders’ Council on Sunday held an emergency meeting where several resolutions were reached, as the said leaders agreed to produce consensus executive members for at the ward, council and state.

The meeting which was held virtually, was attended by Festus Keyamo, SAN, (Hon. Minister and Convener), Olorogun Great Ogboru (Governorship Candidate, 2019), Olorogun O’tega Emerhor (Governorship Candidate, 2015), Dr. Cairo Ojougbo (former ED, NDDC), Dr. Alex Ideh, AVM Okorodudu (rd.), Dr. (Mrs.) Mariam Ali and Dr. Eugene Okolocha.

Oasis Magazine (OM) learnt that Rt. Hon. Ochei and Hon. Timinimi sent apologies but fully consented to the outcome of the meeting.

The main issues discussed and resolutions reached include the appointment of the Delta State 7-man team for the Ward Congresses who the leaders said would be non Deltans.

A statement made available to Oasis Magazine and signed by all members of the Delta State APC Leaders’ Council who also attended the meeting, added that “if inputs are to be obtained from the Stakeholders of the Party in the State in this regard, then members from each of the 3 Senatorial Districts should nominate 2 persons each, to make 6, while one slot should be left for the DSP.

They said that the nominees must be persons of high calibre and deep commitment to uphold the principles of equity in the Party, saying that the names would be forwarded to the National leadership of the Party for consideration.

According to the statement, the single harmonized Exco lists starting from the Ward Congresses to the Council and State is for the unity of the party in the state.

Accordingly, leaders of the Forum from each of the 3 Senatorial Districts are to nominate persons in each of the LGAs within their Senatorial Districts to form Committees that will work with Ward leaders within their LGAs to generate harmonised Ward exco lists that would be adopted by the Leaders’ Council.

“Council leaders from outside such Senatorial Districts are free to send names of their nominees within those Senatorial districts to fellow leaders to be included in those committees to generate the harmonized lists.

The said LGA Committees put together by Council Leaders will also have the task of generating the names of the 3 persons per Ward that will supervise the Congresses in Wards and perhaps LGAs other than their own.

They said other nominations, like the 5 State delegates and 3 national delegates are to follow the same pattern.

Meanwhile, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who earlier contributed and was in support of the resolutions, sent in a message 24 hours later, that after deeper reflection and consultations, he backed down and would not proceed with the agreements.
