The Urhobo Unity Forum has condemned various Ijaw political groups
and some parochial Urhobo leaders drumming support for Senator James Manager 2023
governorship ambition, saying that Manager’s governorship ambition died on arrival.

Speaking to newsmen in Warri shortly after a brief meeting of the association, the national president of Urhobo Unity Forum, Apostle Sunny Omaraye said that Senator Manager has not performed well in his 20 years as a Senator representing Delta South at the National Assembly, stressing that his governorship ambition on ethnic group has no basis, therefore should be disregarded.

Apostle Omaraye noted that the Peoples Democratic Party arrangement was based on senatorial district and not on ethnic basis, stressing that by this arrangement it is the turn of Delta
Central Senatorial District.

He stated that human and infrastructural development throughout the 20 years of
Senator James Manager at the National Assembly was nothing to talk about as he performed below peoples’ expectation, adding that he was unable to attract tangible or meaningful projects
and development to Delta South District where he represented.

Apostle Omaraye disclosed that Senator Manager was the pioneer State Chairman of PDP where rotation and zoning of governorship on Senatorial District was decided or adopted, stressing that morality and integrity was grossly abused by this clamour on ethnic stand.

According to him “This same Senator Manager has been distorting the senatorial power shift arrangement between the Isokos, Itsekiris and Ijaws with impunity after Senator (Mrs.) Stella Omu handed over to him. Since then (2003) he has refused to allow Itsekiris even the Isokos to take their turns”.

He affirmed that obviously Senator Manager can’t go further to convince people to go back to the Senate after (5) five uneventful terms, he has to turn to governorship race in 2023, adding that they won’t allow him scatter the beautiful PDP policy that have engendered peaceful co-existence in our dear state.

“Based on this arrangement of the Peoples Democratic Party, of which the incumbent governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is a beneficiary of the Equity 2003, other political parties including the ruling national party All Progressive Congress (APC) are on the verge of keying to the same zoning arrangement.

“We will not allow him to destroy this existing mutual understanding amongst the people of Delta State that they have embraced.”

The group also known as Urhobo G10 said they have passed a vote of no confidence on Senator James Manager, therefore not fit to be governor of Delta State in 2023.
