Permanent Secretaries, Others, Eulogize Appointment Of Idama As DG Water Regulatory Commission In Delta

The need for individuals with uncommon proficiency in their various fields of endeavours in any society to utilise such gift to touch lives and add value to humanity, has been stressed.

The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Water Resources Development, Engr. Blessing Edewor and his counterpart in the state ministry of Higher Education, Mr. Tony Nwokolobia, stated this in Asaba while fielding questions on the sidelines of a civic reception organised by the Director-General of the Delta State Water Regulatory Commission, Engr. Henry Idama shortly after a thanksgiving at the Mary Viany Catholic Church,Asaba.

Engr. Edewor and Mr. Nwokolobia, who described the Director-General as an astute engineer who had continued to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the water sector in the state, noted that his appointment was well deserved and commended the State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for the recognition.

In their separate remarks, the Director of Administration, office of the State Taskforce on Environment, Mrs. Nkechi Amaraegbu, the Director of Water Supply in the ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Odu Ogufere Ovo and a representative of the Delta State Accountants Forum where Mrs . Idama is a member, Amb. Eris Jewo-Ibi, said that Engr. Idama had all that was needed to transform the water sector.

Mrs. Amaraegbu, specifically described the Director-General as a quintessential, focused, humble and highly committed individual, saying that she has benefitted from his wealth of knowledge during her stay in the water resources Ministry.

Earlier, the Director of Irrigation, Drainage and Flood Control, Ministry of Water Resources Development, Engr. Emmanuel Odogwu and the DG’s elder brother, Chief Chiedu Idama, affirmed that the appointee was one of the most committed and versatile water engineers in the state, explaining that there was need to regulate the water sector in the state.

Engr. Odogwu, said that the Okowa administration through the ministry under the watch of the Commissioner, Hon. Evelyn Oboro was irrevocably committed to ensuring that there was potable water delivery in the state.

Responding, the Director- General of the Water Regulatory Commission, Engr. Idama , who appreciated Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for finding him worthy to serve in the capacity of the DG , assured that the commission would ensure effective service delivery in order to achieve its mandates for the overall benefits of the state.

Dignitaries at the ceremony included the immediate past Special Adviser to Delta State governor on SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Comrade Mike Okeme and his wife as well as the General Manager of Delta State Urban Water Corporation, Engr. Nosa Okoh among others.
