UNIPORT Deputy VC, Prof. Efemini Dies 5 Days After He Emerged
The newly elected Deputy Vice-chancellor, Academics, of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Professor Andrew Efemini has reportedly died five days after his election.
According to reports, the late Professor of Philosophy was along with others awaiting the ratification of his elevation by the institution’s Governing Council before he died in the early hours of Saturday.
The late Prof Efemini had always made his health status public that he had been a diabetic patient for many years, reports PM News.
It is yet uncertain if the cause of his death was linked to the terminal disease he had been battling with.

Confirming his demise, PM News quoting a source, said: “This is because his immediate family has not officially communicated to the University about the sad demise of the Academic.”
The sources also corrected social media reports that he was “appointed” as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, DVC, Academics.
“He was actually elected like other DVCs designates awaiting confirmation from the Governing Council of the University and later sworn in and assume office,” the source added.
