Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has appointed Comrade Efe Don Kigho as Liaison Officer between the tertiary institution and the host community, Oruarivie Abraka Kingdom.

An official letter from the university confirming the appointment, addressed to the President General of the community and dated 21st September, 2021, said “the Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Andy Egwunyenga, has noted his Royal Majesty’s recommendation of Efe Don Kigho as the Liaison Officer to Delta State University.”

The letter signed by the institution’s Principal Assistant Registrar, M.O. Eshebinoma, assured the kingdom of the Vice-Chancellor’s “esteemed regards.”

Reacting to the development, Kigho, who doubles as the National President of Oruarivie-Abraka Youth Council (OYC), while commending the monarch and the VC for making the appointment possible, said that as Liaison Officer he is now the intermeddler between the two sides in order to ensure a positive mutual relationship.

He urged members of his community to expect the very best.

His words: “Everything that is Oruarivie and Abraka community and by extension Ethiope East, we will ensure we get them. Whatever the law says including scholarship to indigenous students, we will engage constructively to get them. The VC, I can assure you, I have found out is a listening person. We will build on that relationship and there will be results and our people should have no fear.

“Also, DELSU knows me better now and they have no fear. Whatever the host community owes DELSU, DELSU will get through me.

“We also expect DELSU to play their part. So, that is where the positive town and gown relationship comes in; by positive and constructive engagement. We sit, talk, dialogue and I am sure that with the crown on one end, the VC on the other end and me in the middle, there is going to be result.
