UNILORIN: Only First Class Graduates Will Be Allowed In This Year’s Convocation

Graduates without first-class degrees have been prevented from attending the University of Ilorin’s (Unilorin) 36th Convocation, which will begin October 15.

The University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, released a statement on Sunday in Ilorin confirming this.

The institution’s 36th Convocation ceremony will be held at the Main Auditorium, according to Akogun.

According to him, the convocation event will begin on Oct. 15 at 1.30 p.m. in the University Central Mosque with a special Juma’at service.

He indicated that on Oct. 17, there would be an Interdenominational Church Service at 9.00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Chaplaincy on the Main Campus.

The main events of the ceremony will formally begin on Oct. 18, with the Vice-Chancellor’s Press Briefing at the University’s Auditorium at 10 a.m., according to Akogun.

He stated that only graduands with 1st Class Degree Honours, Prize winners, and Doctoral Awardees will be allowed to attend the main convocation event on Oct. 23.

Akokun stressed that “hence, entry into the Main Auditorium will be strictly by invitation cards”.
