Ned Nwoko Receives Accolades As ACNPN Hon ours Him For Building Sports University
By Patrick Ochei
The former member of the House of Representatives and Chancellor of the STARS University, Idumuje-Ugboko, Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko, has been eulogized while receiving an award as Community Champion from the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN, Delta State Council.
The encomium was poured on the billionaire lawyer and politician by the Omu Anioma/Nneoha, HRM Obi Martha Dunkwu, who made the presentation of the award to Ned Nwoko who was represented by his cousin, Dr Michael Nwoko.
Omu Dunkwu said that Ned Nwoko is a story that has continued to tell itself across the globe, adding that he doesn’t need any description before his name is mentioned.
She commended the Publishers for recognising Nwoko for his laudable initiative to build a Sports University not even where it would be viable for economic gains, but in his village of Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State.
According to her, “The patriotism of Prince Ned Nwoko is unimaginable. His enthusiasm for community development is unequalled, which has continued to glaringly stand him out for other well to do individuals to emulate.
“It was Ned Nwoko who has built a home in his village for tourists, thereby putting his community in the global map of reckoning. Not stopping there, he has initiated the building of the first Sports University in Sub Saharan Africa and a Golf Course in the same Idumuje-Ugboko. He has also engaged in the project of eradicating malaria not just from the Nigerian environment but Africa at large.
“He deserves much more. No wonder he keeps winning awards. But I am exceedingly happy that this one (Community Champion Award), is coming from a group whose job is predicated on community journalism and surveillance.
