Activist Raises Alarm, Calls On IGP To Investigate Deputy Commissioner Of Police In Delta Over Alleged Ploy To Assassinate Him
By Our Reporters
A human rights activist in Delta State, Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to investigate the conducts of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department (DC SCID), Delta State Police Command, Asaba, DCP Jide Kolawole, alleging that there is a ploy to eliminate him.
In a statement made available to journalists, Aghogho added: “It is with the most unprofessional act that the said DCP Jide Kolawole will deliberately compromise an investigation involving missing children since 2009, baby Andrew ‘M’ ‘4months’ and several others allegedly orchestrated by one Joshua Omorere.”
He continued: “The daily Trust Newspaper of November 27, 2010 published how the said Joshua Omorere orchestrated the disappearance of one Baby Andrew since 2009 before the Police in his statement at Operation Save Delta, Asaba and at the legal unit of Area Command Warri.”

“Only recently, the Inspector General of Police, directed the Assistant Inspector- General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 5 benin, via a letter dated 22/11/2021 referenced CB: 7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.560/352 to investigate a petition dated 11/11/2021 titled “a call for investigation of cases of alleged trafficked children who were re-trafficked by one Joshua Omorere and cartel” containing all allegations against the said Joshua Omorere.
“The Petition reads in parts “Please find below compiled cases of alleged trafficked children who were re-trafficked by one Joshua Omorere and his cartel through the Police Area Command Warri and Police Divisions under the Area Command Warri.”
Acccording to him, “This same matter with two Petitions, one written by Aghogho on the missing children under investigation by Operation Save Delta and another written by Joshua Omorere bordering on alleged defamation of character under investigation by the legal unit, Area Command Warri were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department(SCID), Delta State Police Command Asaba and immediately the said DCP Jide Kolawole got wind of the fact that the matter has been redirected to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 5 Benin by the Inspector General of Police, he unethically transferred the matter to the Area Commander Warri to conclude and charge to court as against the directive of the inspector General of Police in order to shield Joshua Omorere from the investigation of sundry child trafficking perpetrated by him.”
Furthermore, he said “the said DCP gave the Order by by-passing the tradition of the Delta State Police Command of conducting interviews for both Complainant and Accused. Aghogho was the Complainant at SCID Asaba.
“Surprisingly, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) of the case at SCID Asaba said she is unaware that the matter has been transferred to the Area Commander Warri
“On 8th December 2021, Police Officers from Area Command Warri alongside Joshua Omorere arrested Aghogho at the CDHR secretariat by Deco Road Warri but however their plans to charge him to court failed on frivolous charges of cybercrime that same day while the fate of children allegedly stolen by Joshua Omorere dangles in the air.”
Continuing, he said that “the said DCP Jide Kolawole in cahoots with some officials of the Delta State Judiciary including Justice Marshal Umukoro (Retd) who were also fingered in the alleged child trafficking scam in Delta state plans to jail Aghogho in prison with trump up charges and possibly kill him while in prison in order to lay to rest the agitation of trafficked children from Delta State.”
At the time of filing this report, Oasis Magazine was yet to get a reaction to the allegations from the police authority in the state.
