Delta: Information Commissioner, CPS Didn’t Divert Christmas Funds For Media Aides, Says Kwubosu
By Daniel Dafe
The Delta State Government House Press Unit has described
publications emanating from Fejiro Oliver and published by SecretsReporters and other social media platforms that certain top media aides of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa diverted the N25 million naira released as Christmas packages for the media arm of his government as “misleading and malicious.”
According to a statement on Wednesday signed by Kingsley Kwubosu, Public Relations Officer, Government House, Asaba, “in the said publications, Oliver accused the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, of diverting monies meant for some of the Governor’s media aides.”
Adding: “These allegations are not just false but smack of unprofessionalism on the part of the author, who made the publications without recourse to the Commissioner for Information, the CPS or the Public Relations Officer of Government House to hear from them for clarification as the tenets of journalism demand.”

Continuing, he said: “The truth is that the CPS handed over the list of beneficiaries and the money to us in the Public Relations Unit, which I head, for disbursement. But, pressure of work caused an error in the disbursement of the funds by me and other subordinates involved in the process, and we have since corrected the error and sorted things out accordingly.
“As the head of PR Unit where the error was committed, I take full responsibility for it, and I wish to use this medium to apologise to the CPS and the Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, for the embarrassment and inconveniences caused by my unintentional blunder and social media publications.”
Furthermore, he urged the general public “to discountenance the publications as they do not reflect the correct position on the issue.”
