DTSG Lifts Ban On Registration Of Filling Station, Others

Delta State Government (DTSG) has lifted the ban on the registration of new filling stations, cooking gas outlets and associated businesses, which came into effect following the tragic explosion at a gas refilling plant at Agbor.

Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emman Amgbaduba, supported by his Urban Renewal counterpart, Olorogun Arthur Akpowhowo, revealed that registration forms for prospective entrants into the fuel and gas dispensing business in Delta State would be made available, but with stringent regulations and safety standards for serious minded operators. 

He gave the indication while briefing the press in Asaba.

Amgbaduba warned that it was no longer business as usual, as the state governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, had activated a one-stop-shop for registration to include due diligence by relevant state MDAs, Pipeline and Instrumentation Design (P&ID) and Fire Service certification.

He added that compliance by end users would be needs, even after getting the DPR go ahead.

Speaking in the same vein, the Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Akpowhowo, said the one-stop shop assembled by Governor Okowa would work round the clock to enthrone a new dawn in fuel and gas refilling business in Delta State without loss of lives and property.

 A prospective investor, who was the first to pick a registration form, Mr. Alex Okunbor, Managing Director of Bina E. Cooking Gas and Oil Services, Asaba, expressed optimism that Governor Okowa’s ongoing reforms in the sector would serve the interest of stakeholders and the final consumers
