ASUU-DELSU Snubs Senate Directive, Continues Strike, As Varsity Holds Matriculation Ceremony Tomorrow

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Delta State University, Abraka Branch, has said that they are yet to call off the eight week roll over strike, saying that “ASUU-DELSU is still on strike.”
Recall that the management had directed students to return back to campus to immediately begin lectures after a Senate meeting, saying that the school’s academic calendar will be strictly adhered to.
But reacting, in a statement on Thursday signed by Crd. G.O Demaki, Chairperson
And Crd. P.O Opone, Secretary and made available to Oasis Magazine (OM), ASUU-DELSU, said “all members of ASSU-DELSU are hereby reminded that the National Executive Council has not suspended the eight-week roll-over strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU).”

Adding: “The strike is total and comprehensive.”
The statement continued: “By the circular, members are enjoined to disregard any information to the contrary and take directives from the Branch Chairperson ONLY.”
Meanwhile, the management has said that the matriculation ceremony for 2021/2022 Academic Session for new students admitted into DELSU will still hold on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
The occasion will kickoff at the Abraka Campus at 9.00 a.m and thereafter at Oleh campus at 11a.m.
Venue for the event at Abraka Campus is the Convocation Arena, Behind the Social Science Complex, Site III, Abraka, while that of Oleh Campus is the 1000 Seating Capacity Lecture Theater, Faculty of Engineering, Oleh.
