Anambra Police Command Rescues 35 Underaged Girls Used As Commercial Sex Slaves In Hotel

Anambra state Police Command has rescued thirty-five underaged girls serving as commercial sex slaves and other related crime at a hotel in Nkpor, ldemil North Council Area.

Briefing newsmen while parading the victims at the Central Police Station, Onitsha, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr, Echeng Echeng who called on parents to create a deliberate relationship with their children and wards, said such will help in directing and guiding their activities in life.

The Police Commissioner, who spoke through the command”s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu lkenga, observed that intelligence gathering is critical in sanitizing the society.

Parading the victims, of which four out of thirty-five were pregnant, some of them, who narrated their plights said the search for means of livelihood brought them to the hotel, where they were held hostage and were being dished out to prey on numerous men after which they remit proceeds to their paymaster; with little or nothing given to them

Attributing the exploitation to parental pressure, some of the victims, including eighteen year Chidinma Oguejiofor and Favour Hezekiah, said they were being drugged to be activated for, more turnover, there, and lamented that several efforts to escape from the confinement had not yielded results, as security guards had restricted their movement, through serious torture.

Other suspects arrested were Chidera and Chidiebele Alaka, as well as a thirty- five year old young mother, who gave her name as Mrs Ifeoma Uzor.

The State Police Commissioner explained that the suspects will be subjected to further interrogations, with the case under investigation to gather useful information and fish out others involved.

Meanwhile, the rescued victims have been handed over to officials of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for rehabilitation.

Items recovered from the raid include three pump action gun with life cartridges and eight hundred and seventy-seven thousand naira.
