N150Bn Loan: Rights Activist Faults Court Judgement On Efe Duku’s Suit Against DTSG

A human rights activist in Delta State, Barrister Omemiroro Maxwell Ogedegbe has faulted a Federal High Court judgement that struck out a suit filed by Prince Henry Duku on the N150billion loan sought by the Delta state government, saying “it was a grave error.”

Reacting to the judgment, Ogedegbe, also wondered why the court awarded 1million naira cost against the applicant.

He said: “The concept of public interest litogation is to discourage recourse to self help and violence.
The court should be opened for all persons to seek redress in court hence the Supreme Court has in a plethora of cases admonished the courts to adopt a liberal view of locus standi.”

He opined that “the court was in grave error to have awarded a cost of one million naira only against the applicant @Prince Henry Efe Duku who challenged the state government over the 150 billion loan.”

“The court judgment is against Deltans and must be condemned by all,” he averred.
