Accident Claims Five Lives At Okpanam Junction

An accident which occurred on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Okpanam junction by the Benin/ Asaba highway claimed the lives of five persons.
At about 3:10 pm, a blue-coloured Lexus salon car running at a very high speed coming from the Asaba axis of the express road ran into a crowd of persons waiting to get a vehicle going to their different locations at the Okpanam junction and killing five persons on the spot.
According to an eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity, the speed at which the car used in descending the hill from the Okpanam police station at the express roadway, was really uncontrollable, saying it was clear that either the car had failed to break or the driver had slept off on the wheels of the car.

The eyewitness said that the car crushed five persons immediately and four of them died instantly, adding that immediately the driver of the vehicle could not be tracked down, the angry mob at the Okpanam junction set the car ablaze.
It was observed that the wife of the staff of the Ministry of Information, Mrs Amos lost her life in the accident.
