Education Ministry Conducts BECE Resit Exams In Delta

The resit examination for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has been conducted in all designated examination centres across the state.

The examination is for only candidates resitting for either English Studies or Mathematics or both subjects .

State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu who monitored the conduct of the examination in different parts of the state, described the exercise as peaceful.

Mrs. Ezewu urged the students to believe in themselves and put in their best in the resit examination to enable them perform brilliantly and proceed to the senior secondary class .

While saying that the conduct of the resit examination was in line with the objective of the ministry, Mrs. Ezewu enjoined students to embrace reading culture at all times.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, who also monitored the examination in Delta North Senatorial District said that the resit examination was geared towards providing opportunity to candidates that had earlier met the requirements for resit to take the examination.

Mr. Oghoro, who noted that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education would continue to deliver effectively in the conduct of examinations, stated that examination materials were adequately provided for the candidates .

Similarly, the Director of Examination and Standard, Mr. Sunday Egomagwuna, who monitored the examination in Delta Central said that for a candidate to qualify for resit he or she must have passed four subjects in the BECE that had already been released .

Mr. Egomagwuna stated that the two subjects that candidates resit were English Studies and Mathematics, adding that in a case where a candidate passed five subjects with English Studies or Mathematics they would resit only one subject which could either be English Studies or Mathematics.

Meanwhile, the results of the third term promotion examination has been released.

Accordingly, students have been advised to check and print their results online to enable those that passed to proceed to next class.

It could be recalled that in the centres visited , it was observed that examination materials arrived on time.
