Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the 24 traditional rulers of Urhobo nation have told the Delta central senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ede Dafinone that they saw the zeal and will of his father, David in his senatorial ambition.

This was made known when, Okakuro Ede Dafinone paid the traditional rulers courtesy visit at the palace of the Ohworode of Olomu kingdom in Ughelli South local government of Delta to inform them of his senatorial ambition.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers at the palace, the traditional ruler of Agbon kingdom, HRM Ogurimerime said, “We have seen the zeal of your father in your senatorial ambition when there was respect for elders and traditional institution thrives.

“While you were growing, your father, Chief Senator David Edafinone of blessed memory was a man who worked for Urhobo and when he was alive, fight among political parties were not rampant as it is now. There was respect for both parties and individuals.

“We saw that Ede Dafinone is following the foot steps of his father of peace and zeal for Urhobo and if his aspiration is achieved, we will be happy.”

Earlier in his speech, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the Delta Central Senatorial district for the 2023 election, Ede Dafinone said, “I believe my vision as a senator representing Delta Central is to facilitate the creation of an enabling environment that allows the private sector to flourish emphasizing the strength of our natural resources and people.

“And in creating this environment, I believe it should bring prosperity not just to a few but to the greatest number of our people who reside within the senatorial district.

“All stakeholders groups living and working in Delta Central must be identified and common strategic goals unified as we cannot attract local and foreign investors without security and safety.

“By safety, it is not just physical safety but encouraging the district to be open and welcoming to those who bring economic opportunities to the area.

“I will encourage the siting of government institutions and the siting of large scale businesses and support for a new commission located in Delta Central to collaborate in the harvesting of natural gas

“The creation of an investment fund by oil and gas entrepreneurs in the district for targeted corporate social responsibility that focuses on the monetization of natural gas which is currently being wasted.

“My vision is to enable my people, create the environment and drive the process of creating an oasis of peace and long term prosperity. In doing so my focus will be

“I believe I am the right person with the right vision, experience and skill set to assure the people of Delta central with the enabling environment that will bring about the prosperity we deserve.

“I have a unique perspective of what the people want, both at the micro level through the Dafinone Foundation and at the level of large scale business via the rubber factory and plantation.

“To encourage the educational system to ensure that our children can be empowered to make the best out of their lives and seize the opportunities that will arise when business comes to the district

“To encourage those who wish to use our resources and site their businesses here in delta central, to treat the land and resources with respect. Environmental pollution must not be tolerated, as we all suffer when our land is destroyed.

“All of these issues can be done to the benefit of all stakeholders in the Delta Central Senatorial District working as a united team.

“I humbly ask for your support prayers and votes in my quest to serve as the Senator for the Delta Central Senatorial district come 2023.”
