Owoso Declares Special Sanitation Exercise In Mosogar Town

—Evacuates Accumulated Refuse Heaps, Others, Ahead of Rainy Season

As this year’s rainy season is about to set in, the Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Rt Hon Pastor Oghenedoro Nelson Owoso has declared a Special Sanitation Exercise, with a view to evacuating heaps of accumulated refuse obstructing major roads and streets, as well as maintaining drainages and road shoulders in Mosogar Kingdom.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Local Government Chairman, Comrade Victor Igherighe, this was sequel to other evacuation exercise previously carried out by the Owoso administration in Idjerhe and Oghara kingdoms of the local government.

However, Mosogar turn of the exercise commenced as early as 7:am on Saturday May 6, beginning with the evacuation of mighty heap of refuse along Old Benin/Sapele Road by borrow pit area, close to the Market, in Mosogar Town.

Another mighty heap of refuse that was already covering half of the Old Benin/Sapele Road, linking residence of Mosogar Monarch, as well as that of Eghwuba Street, off College Road, Mosogar, were also evacuated neatly using the pair-loader caterpillar and tippers for the packing and disposal.

The exercise which has continued with packing of drainages along Amori Road, has got the entire Mosogar Kingdom agoged as some residents who spoke on condition of anonymity commended the council chairman, Owoso for coming to their aide, particularly for evacuating heaps of refuse that had accumulated for more than a decade from their community.

The anonymous residents also appealed to the council chairman to put measure in place that would not only prevent further indiscriminate dumping of refuse but also severely punish anyone who might be found wanting.

The exercise was duly supervised by the Honourable Supervisor for Environment, Hon Macaulay Tobi; Head of Department (H.O.D) Environment, Mrs Eshemeju and Secretary to the Local Government, Hon Sunday Amori.
They were assisted by some concerned indigenes of the community.
