Djoma Recommends Decentralisation To Curb Teachers’ Shortage In Schools

The Chief Inspector of Education (CIE) for Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, Emilian Djoma has called for the decentralisation of teachers in the State to address the issue of shortage of teachers in some schools .

Djoma made the call while speaking with newsmen shortly after receiving Excellent Merit Award from the Anioma Community Newspaper, the publishers of the Anioma News.

She said that such measure would have multipliers effect on the education system in the State and lauded the State Government for its systematic approach in driving the education sector to greater heights.

Djoma said that she was happy that her modest contributions in the sector was being observed and thanked the organisers of the award for finding her worthy of the recognition.

The CIE attributed her success to the support and cooperation of the stakeholders including the entire workforce of the CIE’s office and the principals in Oshimili South among others.

Djoma, who reiterated her unwavering determination to put in her best in her assignments, noted that it was rewarding to work as a team for the overall benefits of the State.

She stressed the need to protect facilities in schools from vandalism by unscrupulous elements, adding that the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education had continued to carry out mentorship programme in schools to educate students on the need to embrace reading culture and shun negative vices.

Earlier, the Principal of Osadenis Mixed Secondary School, Mrs. Patience Ngozi Aguonye, her counterpart in charge of Government Model Secondary School, Asaba, Dr. (Mrs) Obiajulu Eboka, the Head teacher of Abuator Primary School 1, Asaba, Comr.(Mrs) Benedicta Eseoghene Okeme and Mrs. Egbueze Bridget , who is a staff of the CIE’s office, said that Emilian Djoma was humble, hardworking and accommodating.

While saying that she deserved the recognition, they stated that her achievements were worthy of emulation just as they congratulated her on the award bestowed on her.

In her remarks, the representation of Anioma Community Newspaper, Adoenu Comfort Egovin said that the organisation chose her for the honour based on her excellent performance as CIE for Oshimili South, emphasising that Djoma was very committed to her duties.

She said that their organisation had observed that ever since Emilian Djoma became the CIE for Oshimili South, the rate of examination malpractices had reduced in schools within her jurisdiction.
