AFCON: Super Eagles Fail To Defeat Equatorial Guinea
Nigeria opened their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a disapointing 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea.
The Super Eagles are three-time winners of the championship and chasing their fourth continental crown and were heavy favourites against their opponents.
However, Victor Osimhen and Zaidu Sanusi failed to convert early chances in the game.
Equatorial Guinea then took the lead through Ivan Salvador’s composed finish.
Two minutes later, Nigeria were level, as Victor Osimhen rose highest to head home Ademola Lookman’s cross.
