DSC Primary/Nursery Schools Hold Interhouse Sports Competition

DSC Model Nursery / Primary School , Steel Town Orhuwhorun in Udu Local Government Area held her 7th annual Interhouse sports competition on Thursday, 7th March, 2024.

The Interhouse sports competition featured march past ,field and track events.

The Chairman of event, Udu born philanthropist and sports enthusiast, Olorogun Syvelster Bighoro in his note address, urged parents and guardians to encourage their wards in sporting activities.

Bighoro who is also the National President of Essi College Old Students Association ( ECOSA ), strongly advised that pupils needed to partake in sporting any activity they find themselves because according to him, doing so will boost their physical health and also give them the mental energy to cope well.

He posited that sport releases serotonin and other chemicals in child’s brain and as such children feel more rejuvenated daily and that it will also held them to keep fit and maintain a healthy and positive life.

Bighoro emphasized that sport plays important role in having stable and healthy mental health of the child.

“Mental health of the child should not be taken lightly in order for the child to a holistic and healthy life..

“Sport plays a great role in keeping pupils happy and focused.

“By playing various kind of sports, pupils will also realise that they can focus and concentrate better in class, ” he added.

In her welcome address, the manager of DSC Model Nursery / Primary Schools , Steel Town Orhuwhorun, Mrs Grace Uche Okafor stated among other things that the pupils went through serious training and therefore were prepared to showcase their talents at the event.

She also posited that sporting activities were very important aspects of child ‘s development.

Mrs Okafor therefore pleaded with parents and guardians to always encourage their wards in sporting activities.

She appreciated the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) of Premium Steel and Mines Ltd Mr L. Venkatesen, the Deputy General Manager ( DGM) of the company, Emmanuel Etaghene , Olorogun Syvelster Bighoro among others who contributed to the hosting of the epoch making event.
