Essi College Old Students Call For Utilization Of Donated Building

Essi College Old Students Association has called for the utilization of a multi purpose building donated by Chevron / NNPC Joint Venture to Essi College , Warri.
The President of Essi College Old Students Association worldwide, Chief Syvelster Bighoro JP made the call in a media chat with our correspondent in Warri at the weekend.
The renowned philanthropist who also spoke on the role of old students association, asserted that old students associations were partners with the government in progress and that the government cannot provide all the needs of schools .
Bighoro stated that the Old Students Association was to complement the efforts of the government in the provision of things that the government cannot provide, such as the welfare of staff and teachers.
To this end, he disclosed that Essi College Old Students Association donated chairs and decks worth over 10 million naira to Essi College Warri, awarded scholarships and bought JAMB forms for indigent students of the school, planted trees in the school, organized prize and speech giving day for students and educated students on the need to be properly educated.

Bighoro also called on those who were yet to identify with their alma mater to do so as he reasoned that an old student cannot be bigger than his or her alma mater,” saying that old students were moulded by their alma mater.
“So we are expected to give back to society,” he stated.
He used the opportunity to appreciate and applauded some members of Essi College Old Students Association for their immense contributions to the growth of the association.
Those he mentioned were: Chief Fidelis Agbiki, Mr Patrick Okpalefe, Chief Peter Obodo, Chief Victor Otomiewo, Chief Matthew Tone, Clement Siakpere, Chief Joseph Obioru and Dr ( Mrs ) Edna Abibetu.
