Purported Expulsion Of Young As Delta NAPPS Chair, Null And Void –Ikponmwen

Udoh Wades In, Calls For Calm, Slams Akpeme

Hon. Ekhosuehi Reuben Ikponmwen has said that the purported expulsion of the Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, Delta State Chapter, Mrs. Young P.N. by Dr. Ochuko Akpeme was null and void.

He said this while reacting to the expulsion notice signed by Dr. Akpeme, alleging that the Chairman alongside the immediate past Chairman, Deacon Monday Ifoghere and the immediate past secretary in the state, connived to print the Unified Examination question papers through alternative means contrary to what is obtainable in NAPPS.

His statement reads: “The attention of the office of the NAPPS National Vice President and President South- South zone has been drawn to the poorly addressed letter to one Mrs Young Precious N. (Delta State NAPPS Chairperson) purporting her expulsion from the office as chairperson.

“The author of the said letter is Akpeme Ochuko who is the immediate past NVP/ZP NAPPS South-South. By constitution, he has no constitutional and legal power to preside over NAPPS South -South meeting to the effect of expelling any officer from office. The action is therefore not only laughable but a breach of the constitution of NAPPS. To prove his mediocracy, he cited a section in the constitution which does not in any way have bearing with his purported action.”

He continued: “The office frowns at the action of Akpeme Ochuko (immediate past NVP) and warns that such action should not repeat itself else legal action will be taken to face the full wrath of the law.

“All NAPPS members are therefore advised to discountenance such purported expulsion as it is non and void and of no effect. The peace and unity we enjoyed in South -South should be allowed to stay.”

Furthermore, he urged all NAPPS members within the South-South geopolitical zone and Delta State in particular to remain calm and law abiding as the peace and unity enjoyed in the south -South zone remains undiluted.

Meanwhile, a Board of Trustee member representing the South South geopolitical zone, Obong Edet Udoh, has said that he is not impressed to hear that an always peaceful and well coordinated Delta NAPPS is having crisis.

In a voice note made available to journalists, he added that he has directed that whenever there is crisis in the area, it is always referred to the elder, saying two persons in conflict will not be able to resolve their differences.

Adding: “There must be a mediator.”

Speaking further, he said he was not spoken to on the matter but decided to intrude because it affects his office.

He said: “With what I have heard so far and with what Akpeme has said, I want to direct let there be peace and let the status quo remain. Let the woman you have mentioned to have been sworn-in remain as the state chairman of NAPPS in the state and if she has committed any offence, the state exco can direct otherwise.”

He said further: “I will soon send the South South chairman, Reuben to come to Delta State to hear both sides.

“Once someone has been elected and sworn-in, such cannot be removed with impunity because she has immunity.

“This voice note is enough to calm all the nerves.

“I have also told my son, Dr. Akpeme that his tenure as leader of the South South has expired so that he can allow peace to reign in the South South.”
