Oasis Chapel Holds Inaugural Congress, Begins Courtesy Visits, Rolls Out Programmes

Oasis Magazine Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, on Tuesday held its inaugural congress weeks after the new chapel was inaugurated by the Chairman of Delta NUJ, Comrade Churchill Oyowe.
The Inaugural Congress held in Abraka and had members in attendance.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Comrade Daniel Umukoro, commended those in attendance, while charging others to take a clue from them, saying it was important for every chapel member to always make themselves available when the need arises.
He added: “We have tall dreams, daunting goals and by the grace of God, we will achieve them all.”.
Umukoro urged every member to feel free to make suggestions that can help the union excel.

In his words, “the next goal is to come up with diligent leaders to pilot the affairs of the chapel for the next three years.”
“We have hit the ground running and there will be no room for mediocrity,” he averred.
Meanwhile, at the Congress, apart from discussions on electing and inaugurating the executive of the chapel, other matters deliberated on included courtesy visits and events to be organised later this year.
While the House agreed that an award ceremony, Distinguished Nigerians Award (DISNA) be held in November, members of the chapel will also be organising a ‘Spelling Bee’ competition for secondary schools at resumption in September.
On courtesy visits, Comrade Umukoro said that the body will be visiting one of the council Chairmen in the area on Thursday, adding that the Divisional Police Officer, Abraka Division, SP Fabian Ayameh will be hosting members of the chapel on Wednesday, 21st August, 2024.
The meeting which started at about 1p.m. ended at 2.34p.m.
