Godwin Adode Elected Chairman Delta State Football Association

Former Delta Stars Football Club chairman, Godwin Adode, popularly known as Coach Tete, has emerged as the new chairman of the Delta State Football Association.

Adode, who returned to sports after an eight-year stint as Ughelli North Local Government Chairman, succeeds Hon. Ken Nwoamucha, former Warri Wolves FC Chairman and Sharpshooters player.

In the election, current Warri Wolves Chairman, who is a former DFA board member, was returned as Vice Chairman, replacing former Dolphins Captain Steve Cole, who withdrew from the race.

Other elected members include:

– Igho David, former Nigeria Referee Association Vice President
– Azuka Chiemeka, former Swan chairman
– Sam Sodje, former Super Eagles defender
– Coach Jonah Famatua
– Solomon Iweribo, a retired professional footballer, who defeated former BBC Lioners player and DFA board member Lucky Sunday with 25 votes to 3

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Godwin Adode expressed gratitude for the peaceful and transparent election.

He promised to run an open-door policy, focusing on grassroots sports development in Delta State.

“This is a new dawn, and we will channel more effort into resuscitating grassroots sports and other developmental programs. We hope to work closely with the Governor Sheriff Oborewovori administration.”

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of return to all elected members of the Delta State Football Association board.
