Orosuen Of Okere Urhobo Bags Honorary Degree

Honour was given to who honour was due as HRM Morris Oghenechuko Eyekpimi- Egbobonyen, Owhotemu 11, the Orosuen (traditional ruler) of the ancient Urhobo Kingdom of Okere in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State was honoured with an honorary doctorate degree in community service and leadership by the prestigious Highstone Global University, Texas United States of America (USA).

The award ceremony which took place at the American university campus in Lagos State on Wednesday 16th October 2024 was attended by the Otota (traditional spokesman) of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, High Chief ( retired Brigadier General) Dr Gold Eburu ( JP) , a galaxy of highly respected chiefs of Okere Urhobo Kingdom and other distinguished personalities.

Before the award ceremony, the highly esteemed Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, his chiefs and well-wishers paid a courtesy visit to HRM Oba ( Dr ) Nojeedeen Abidemi Aberejo Douala 1 Ogujobi 11 , Alakesan of Akesan Kingdom, Lagos where the Okere Urhobo monarch and his people were given a red carpet reception.

It is also interesting to know that the traditional prime minister of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, the highly respected retired Nigerian Army General, High Chief Eburu who is also a very senior chief in Akesan Kingdom, played host to the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, those who attended the event from Okere Urhobo Kingdom to Lagos State and Okere Urhobo people who live in the area in very wonderful way after the award ceremony.

High points of the traditional ruler of Okere Urhobo monarch’s visit to Lagos State were the presentation of the honorary doctorate degree by Highstone Global University Texas Nigeria Campus Lagos and presentation of souvenir to him by Oba Dr Nojeedeen Abidemi Aberejo Douala 1 Ogujobi 11 Alakesan of Akesan Kingdom Lagos State.

The Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom High Chief (retired Brigadier General) who Gold Eburu who spoke to our correspondent in an exclusive media interaction during his hosting of Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom and Okere people, congratulated the Okere Urhobo monarch for the conferment of honorary doctorate degree, appreciated the traditional ruler of Akesan Kingdom for the warm reception accorded to the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom and his subjects just as he described the visit as unique and historic.
