Umukoro: My Meeting With Gov Oborevwori Was Not Political, I Am Still In APC
By Daniel Dafe
Rights activist and Urhobo youth leader, Dr. (Comr) Kelly Efemna Umukoro has debunked rumours that he was on his way to the ruling party in Delta State, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He said this in a phone conversation with Oasis Magazine while commending the governor for the recent mobilization of contractors to site in Abraka to tackle the bad spots in Ekrejeta.
According to him, he and his team recently had a closed door meeting with the governor on the state of insecurity and other issues hindering the progress of the university town.
Reacting to the rumours that he is about to decamp to the PDP, he added: “The meeting I had with the governor was not in any way for me to move over to PDP. I am a full member of the All Progressives Congress, APC and everybody cannot be on the same side with the government.”

In his words, “recall that I was the Deputy Youth Directorate, APC Delta State Governorship and Presidential Campaign Council 2023.”
He continued: “When the government does what is right, you praise and when they do what is wrong, you criticize. So, the meeting with the governor was not political.
”The governor called to ask questions. What do you think I can do differently where we won’t have trouble? How can the government walk with your team to ensure that Delta state is seen as the best state? All what I said using the Abraka as a case study, security wise, road and other social amenities and in all the governor made a promise that these things will be looked into and to my greatest surprise, 24 hours after that said meeting precisely on Thursday, I noticed that the contractors have mobilized to site so I needed to wait till today when I met with the contractor at Ekrejeta, Eng. Blessing and I reminded him about the meeting and that for the governor to have kept to his promise, it calls for commendation and appreciation.”
