Ughelli North LGA Chairman Promises "Free And Fair" Elections For Unenurhie Community

The executive chairman of the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state, Olorogun Jaro Egbo has promised the Unenurhie community in Evwreni kingdom to conduct free and fair elections that would completely be devoid of any form of electoral fraud or malpractice during their upcoming community elections.

The council chairman who advised the president-general and other leaders of the community to avoid anything that would lead to crisis and chaos in the community at this time, made this statement during a recent security meeting conveyed by the chairman and held in his exco chambers based on some sensitive intelligent reports from the community.

The meeting which was attended by Unenurhie community leaders led by the president-general, Mr. Peter Maison and the Odion’Rode of Evwreni kingdom, High Chief James Amuke and some opposition parties in the upcoming community elections also saw in attendance the Ovie of Evwreni kingdom, HRM, Oghenekevwe Kumane, Eruvwedede 111 as the clan head and Chief Kenneth Ukpebitere, the president-general of Evwreni kingdom as the kingdom PG.

Addressing the meeting attendants, the council chairman, Olorogun Egbo advised the Unenurhie people especially the leaders to toe the part of peace all through the period of the elections. He also warned the youths of the community never to cause the break down of law and order in the community by way of fighting, carrying of weapons, shooting of guns, issuing of threats and other civil offences before or during the election day. He went further to say that, contestants in the elections should be allowed to go about their normal electioneering campaigns in the community in peaceful ways without being violent to their co-contestants or their supporters in any aggressive manner.

The meeting which lasted an hour however ended with the council chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo informing the Unenurhie leaders that the community elections would be conducted by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Asaba in accordance to the community constitution with the close supervision of the Ovie of Evwreni kingdom and the President-General of Evwreni kingdom, advising them to maintain fairness, transparency, tranquility and truthfulness in conducting the elections and collating the results at the end.
