ACNPN: SSA To Gov. Oborevwori On Community Newspapers Moves To Unite Publishers In Delta

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Community Newspapers, Prince Orhomonokpaye has vowed to end the over 10-year-long disunity that has made it impossible for publishers in the state to function under one umbrella, Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN.

Comrade Orhomonokpaye who spoke to Oasis Magazine via a telephone conversation on Tuesday, said he has invited all newspaper publishers in the state to a meeting in Asaba on Thursday.

His words: “I am summoning a general meeting for all community newspaper publishers in the state in order for us to resolve the long crisis.”

According to him, the meeting will hold at the Press Centre, Old Government House at 10am.

“It is a meeting that the office of the SSA to Governor Oborevwori is calling to see that the long crisis for over 10 years comes to an end,” he said.

He continued: “We must forge ahead, be united and come together as one so that we can promote the good achievements of Governor Oborevwori.”

Meanwhile, he disclosed that he has the mandate of the governor to see that the crisis is put to an end.

Furthermore, he said: “The governor is not happy that the union has not been working together and he has mandated me to do all it takes to settle the crisis.”

This, he said reveals the interest and love the governor has for community newspaper publishers.

To newspaper publishers in the state, he said: “Ever publisher in the state must attend because the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor is going to take record and attendance because this is the first meeting the Office is calling. So, I urge all community newspapers whether registered or not to be in attendance because the more the merrier.”

Adding: “The governor’s message will be delivered to them on Thursday. He has asked me to resolve the crisis that has rocked ACNPN. All newspaper publishers must close ranks before that meeting. The two factions must close ranks. We must achieve peace by the grace of God on that day.”

Oasis Magazine gathered that publishers in attendance at the meeting will be made to register with the Office of the SSA.

“This registration is not a union affair. This is for documentation,” he said.

He called on all publishers to come along with two passports for the said documentation.

“Even though I am of the other side now, what I want do on that day is to bring everyone under ACNPN on that day. I have done it before about four or five times. I hope God will help me do it again on that day,” he concluded.
