DELSU SUG Demands Sanity Be Restored In Abraka Within 72 Hours

Students’ Union Government (SUG), Delta State University, DELSU, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Delta State Police Command and the Delta State Government to address endless kidnappings and tighten up security in Abraka and its environs.

The SUG has also demanded the immediate identification and arrest of those responsible for crimes and the recent kidnappings in Abraka — a University environment in Ethiope East Local government.

The ultimatum was issued through an open letter officially submitted and addressed to the Delta State Commissioner of Police.

The letter came in response to reports of domineering abduction of students in the town on a weekly basis.

While discretions were applied, the SUG called for swift action, stressing that failure by the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command and relevant authorities to brace up security, identify and hand over the perpetrators of these crimes within the specified time frame, would leave them with no choice but to take necessary steps to defend their students by joining the ongoing protest against kidnapping in Abraka.

They further warned that the peace-loving nature of the students of the institution should not be mistaken for weakness, urging all stakeholders to ensure sanity, safety of lives and property are restored in Abraka.
