Commissioner Seeks Collaboration With Hausa Leaders To Tackle Street Begging, Criminality

The Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Bisi Idaomi has paid a courtesy visit on the Sarki-Hausa, Alhaji Isa Adamu, in his office at Mission Road, Benin City, to partner on filtering out criminal elements, who may be disguising themselves as beggars in the State.
Expressing concerns over the menace of criminals, under the guise of begging in certain areas of Benin City, including Mission Road, Ring Road, Akpakpava, and Ikpoba Hill, Chief Idaomi emphasised the need for collective action to sanitise the City to be free from such criminal elements.
Chief Idaomi while harping on the importance of responsibility and accountability, stated,

“Our Sons and daughters are complaining about the state of affairs in connection with increasing rate of criminality in certain areas of our City.”
She maintained that the State Government hopes to achieve the objective of reducing criminality to its barest minimum without misunderstandings or conflicts among residents in the State and beyond.
She disclosed that the initiative is part of the State Government’s efforts to address social issues and to promote a safer Benin City.
Alhaji Adamu appreciated the Commissioner and her Team for the proposed collaboration on eradicating criminals, who pose as beggars in the State.
He pledged cooperation and collaboration in the crusade, asserting that the initiative would ensure a safe and secured environment for residents.
