LAUTECH Student Shot Dead At Sign-Out Party In Ogbomosho, 16 Arrested

A student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, has been confirmed dead after being shot during a sign-out party, the Oyo State Police Command has said.

Zagazola reports that the deceased, identified as Babalola Marvelous Ishola, was found lifeless by the roadside at about 5:38 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sources said that the discovery followed a report received about a male corpse lying unattended near the road.

A team of security operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene, where the victim was identified through a search of his person.

The Dean of Student Affairs at LAUTECH also confirmed that Babalola was a student of the institution.

His body has been deposited at the morgue of the LAUTECH University Teaching Hospital for preservation.

Following the incident, police Monitoring Unit launched a sting operation which led to the arrest of sixteen suspects in connection with the shooting.

Police say investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances behind the tragic killing.
