By Felix Okotie
The Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government, Hon Chief Augustin Ogedegbe has said that in four months, his administration will complete and put to use a storey building, housing 26 office blocks for the Heads of Department (HoDs) in the next three to four months.
He said this on Tuesday when the Publisher of Oasis Magazine, Pastor Daniel Umukoro, paid a visit to the council boss at the Ethiope East Council Secretariat, Isiokolo.
The project which is at the DPC (Damp Proof Course) level, is said to be a direct project of the council through the Department of Works.
The council boss who took the publisher and others who accompanied him round on an inspection of his special infrastructural project at the council headquarters, emphasized the importance of officers working in a conducive environment.
He said: “When I resumed as the chairman, I was not pleased with the look of the council secretariat.”
Adding: “These motivated my reconstruction and beautification of the gate house and the entire fence line,” while pointing at the dilapidated structure housing the present HoD offices.
Chief Ogedegbe continued: “You can see for yourself these offices have to be replaced and that is why we are building a new one. This building will be completed in the next 3 to 4 months.”
The Ethiope East Chairman, Hon Chief Ogedegbe also took the team round the newly reconstructed administrative block, which is fully equipped with brand-new furniture, electronic gadgets, functional water supply system and proper landscape design for easy car flow.
In his response, Umukoro lauded the council chairman for painstakingly ensuring that his projects were done with standard, just as he urged him to continue to be selfless and remain focused not minding detractors in the area.
Those also present during the visit were Comrade Felix Okotie, the Vice Chairman of Oasis Magazine Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (Oasis-NUJ Chapel) and Comrade Etadefe, Managing Editor, Oasis Magazine and a member of the chapel.
