DELSU Collaborates With North-West University, South Africa To Promote Higher Education In Africa

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has entered into a collaborative partnership with North-West University, South Africa to promote higher education as part of initiatives to promote intra-continental education in Africa.

Speaking during a meeting which took place on Tuesday, 7th October, 2025 at DELSU, Abraka, Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration between the two universities he considers two major players in university education in Africa.

Professor Asagba also stated that he looked forward to a successful, cordial and mutual relationship between both universities.

The Vice Chancellor assured the delegation of DELSU’s return visit to North-West University in South Africa to further strengthen the partnership.

Leader of the North-West University delegation, Professor Choja Akpovire Oduaran in her speech earlier, thanked the Vice Chancellor for accepting to collaborate with the South African university.

Professor Oduaran said that the collaboration would be in the areas of joint supervision of postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellowships which would involve exchange of scholars between DELSU and North-West University, South Africa.

Professor Oduaran expressed optimism that the collaboration would enrich research and staff development. The collaboration was the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Department of Psychology, Delta State University (DELSU) and Community Psychosocial Research Entity, North-West University, South Africa.

Dignitaries present at the collaborative meeting included DELSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, Dean of Faculty of the Social Sciences, Professor Sam Ogege and Head of Department of Psychology, Professor Chiyem Nwanzu. On the delegation of North-West University were Professor Choja Akpovire Oduaran and Dr Victor Chidi Onyencho.
