Ethiope East Council Election: Court Of Appeal Affirms Victory Of Ogedegbe Against Hon. Barr. Joseph Oshevire

The Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Hon. Augustine Usinefe Augustine Ogedegbe JP, has recorded a resounding legal victory as the Court of Appeal, Asaba Division, dismissed the appeal filed by Hon. Barr. Joseph Oshevire challenging his qualification and election as Chairman of the Council.

In a unanimous judgment delivered in Appeal No. CA/AS/60/2026 – Hon. Barr. Joseph Oshevire v. Mr. Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe & Anor, the Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal for being completely lacking in merit. The lead judgment was delivered by Honourable Justice Asma’u Musa Mainoma, with the full concurrence of the other Justices of the Court.

The appellate court affirmed the earlier judgment of the High Court of Delta State, Isiokolo Judicial Division, which had dismissed the suit instituted by Hon. Oshevire. In that suit, Hon. Oshevire sought to challenge the qualification of Hon. Ogedegbe and prayed the court to disqualify and remove him as the Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council.

With this judgment, the Court of Appeal has conclusively vindicated and affirmed Hon. Augustine Ogedegbe JP, as the duly elected and qualified Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, thereby reinforcing the mandate freely given to him by the people.
