Akpowowo Gives Account Of Stewardship To Constituents, Urges Support For Gov. Oborevwori, President Tinubu
Less than twelve months to the 2027 general election, the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State of House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Arthur Akpowowo has dished out a befitting account of stewardship to the people of Ethiope East State Constituency even as he urged them to be prepared to vote overwhelmingly for the return of Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, himself and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.
Hon. Barr. Akpowowo who stated this in Eku recently on the occasion of his constituency briefing/empowerment and account of stewardship, noted that in line with the MORE Agenda of Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, he also has MORE dividends of democracy to deliver to the people of Ethiope East, come 2027.
The Governor, His Excellency Rt. Sheriff Oborevwori who was represented by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, in his opening remarks commended the Deputy Speaker for his concern about the welfare of his people, adding that with his act, he was actually promoting the government and by extension the House of Assembly.
The Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly recalled that while he gave his first account of his stewardship in February 2022, he ought to have presented his second account of stewardship last year but for the fresh marriage of PDP and APC in the state, he could not, adding that it was the reason he delayed it till today.
“On the 22nd of June, 2024 which made it my one year in office, I gave account of my stewardship. As at last year 14th of June, I would have given my second account of stewardship but we just joined APC then. I wanted us to consummate the new marriage between PDP and APC. That was why I delayed this second Constituency briefing/empowerment til today”, he said.
In reeling out his achievement, Hon. Akpowowo recalled the commissioning of the constructed and completed Ikidioka and Adu streets internal roads in Eku, which were commissioned by HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo, Orhue 1, Orodje of Okpe kingdom earlier in the day.
The Deputy Speaker who disclosed that he has been elected as the National Chairman of Nigeria Deputy Speakers Forum, noted that he was fully committed to doing more for the people of Ethiope East constituency “in line with the Renewed Hope For MORE Agenda of Mr. President and our Dear Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who is doing very well”.

He disclosed to the people some of the works of the Governor in Ethiope East including the reconstruction of the Ekpan-Ovu – Kokori Road project and the PTI junction-Eku dual carriageway which, according to him, has already been awarded to a contractor, adding that Ethiope East should be grateful to Gov. Oborevwori for the several projects the government has done in the constituency.
While stressing in his legislative accomplishments in the House of Assembly, Hon. Akpowowo recalled several bills he has sponsored which have been passed to law, adding that even in his capacity as the Deputy Speaker, he is in position to co-sponsor every bill that passes through the hallow chamber.
On infrastructural projects, the Lawmaker listed several projects he has accomplished in the constituency especially in education and other social sectors, such as solar Street lights, assuring that he has put so many projects in the 2026 budget that will benefit the people of Ethiope East.
Hon. Akpowowo also disclosed that he empowered over 200 women across the Local Government Area last year with N100,000.00 each to boost their petty businesses, adding that this year over a hundred would also benefit from the women empowerment.
On display at the main field of the Baptist Mission Secondary School, Eku, venue of the event were nearly a thousand assorted empowerment equipment including sewing machines, motorbikes, hair dressers, generators, welding machines amongst others which the lawmaker gave out to constituents to better their lots.
Responding to our correspondent, a cross-section of beneficiaries of the empowerment expressed gratitude to the Deputy Speaker, assuring that they will make good use of the equipment to boost their businesses. They prayed to God to bless him and his family for the largesse, adding that it was a novel idea in Ethiope East.
Highpoint of the event was the handing over of the empowerment equipment to lucky beneficiaries who were spread among the eleven wards of the LGA.
Present at the event were the ‘who is who’ in Ethiope East politics including the eldest politician, Chief Ogbetuo, Chief Adiotomre, the Local Government chairman, Chief Hon. Ogedegbe, Reverend Dr. Otegheri, Hon. Emeyese, the LGA APC Chairman, Chief Midwest Iboyitete, immediate past party chairman, Mr. Esemedafe, Chief Emajuwa, Chief Amori (who came from Ethiope West) amongst several others.
