Gov. Soludo Breaks 20-Year Jinx, Appoints Tobechukwu Nweke SAN As Anambra Attorney General

In a move widely hailed as a victory for meritocracy over political patronage, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has officially appointed Tobechukwu Nweke SAN as the new Attorney General of Anambra State.

A native of Nsugbe in Anambra East LGA, Tobechukwu Nweke is no stranger to breaking ceilings. At just 39 years old, he was elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in September 2024, making him the youngest SAN from Anambra State and one of the youngest in the entire federation.

Before this elevation to Attorney General, Nweke served as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legal Matters, a role he held since 2022, proving himself a key intellectual pillar in the Soludo administration.

Nweke’s resume reads like a masterclass in legal excellence, blending local expertise with Ivy League credentials, having recently completed specialized courses at Harvard University (Contract Law, 2026) and the University of Oxford (Project Risk Management, 2025), being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK (FCIArb), where he reached the peak of the arbitration profession in 2023.

An alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNN), he also holds an LLM from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and rose from a National Youth Service corps member to the Managing Solicitor of the renowned firm of Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN & Co. in just four years, handling landmark cases that have redefined Nigerian jurisprudence.
