Ajede Holds Town Hall Meeting, Highlights Achievements, Development Plans In Ukwuani LGA

The Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. C.S. Possible Ajede, has convened a Town Hall meeting aimed at engaging residents and providing a detailed update on his administration’s activities and progress.

Speaking at the meeting, the chairman presented a breakdown of council revenues, including statutory allocations and internally generated revenue (IGR), explaining how funds have been utilized across various sectors since the inception of his administration.

He also addressed security concerns across communities in the LGA, particularly issues related to herders’ disturbances affecting farmlands. Ajede outlined measures being taken to curb the situation and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to ensuring farmers can carry out their activities safely.

On education, the chairman highlighted interventions designed to support learners, including the provision of learning materials and financial assistance to students. In the agricultural sector, he noted that deliberate efforts are underway to boost productivity, stressing that 2% of the council’s allocation has been set aside for agricultural development in recognition of Ukwuani’s agrarian nature.

He further spoke on healthcare delivery, referencing the ongoing mobile healthcare programme which offers free medical services to residents across communities. On transportation, he explained the impact of the Ukwuani Mass Transit (Ejelunor), noting that it has helped reduce transport costs within and outside the local government area.

Ajede reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to delivering people-oriented projects in line with the MORE Agenda of the Delta State Government under Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as well as the broader “DO MORE” policy direction.
