An aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Ethiope Federal Constituency, Dr. Aghogho Emmanuel Ivwurie, has said that the 14-year reign of His Royal Majesty (Air Vice Marshall) Lucky Ochuko Ararile (Rtd) Avwaeke I, has brought rapid development in the area.
Dr. Ivwurie who hails from Umiaghwa-Abraka kingdom, said this during an exclusive chat with Oasis Magazine on Sunday during the 14th coronation anniversary of the traditional ruler in Oria.
The House of Representatives hopeful who has been managing private business in Victoria Island, Lagos since 2006, said he grew up in the community before he eventually located to Lagos.
According to him, since the king took over the throne, development began.
He continued: “Initially, I told myself, I don’t want to get involved with community issues while I was doing my own things, privately, helping people to get job and all that. But when I saw the progress and his style of leadership, I resolved that I will be part of everything he is doing. I met him a few times. I have taken time to speak with him, and I have seen somebody who is thoroughly exposed, have love for his community and is not afraid to talk to anybody; even if they will be hurt, he knows how to handle it. At the end of the day after being hurt, the message is passed and sinks into them. I appreciate him very much for that, and that is why I made sure that the culmination of this celebration, which is today and tomorrow, that I am part of it. I am from the Oviedo ruling house, and my father, Reverend Johnson Ivwurie is the most senior person in that ruling house. He is also an Okwa already over 100 years. So I am also praying that the king will live long so that we will see great benefits.”

Ivwurie, who holds board positions in two companies and a religious group, said further: “By the time he is very old, we would have seen Umiaghwa transcend from being an agrarian community to an industrial community. He said it today, and I have taken my own message to heart. I am also going to work on that to attract investors into this community. This is my desire. This has been my desire, and it’s been stirred up today. So I am very grateful that I was part of today’s program and made my commitment. I am going to work on it. I say congratulations to Orosue for this year’s celebration, which was successful.”
Asked what his message for the king was, he said: “My message is, first of all, for his birthday yesterday, I wish him long life, renewed wisdom and leadership skills much more than he has ever acquired before to pilot the affairs of this kingdom and that God will make him reap the fruits of his labor. He will be alive to see this community grow, develop, prosper, and the sons and daughters of this community will be in different positions across the country, so that national leaders will be calling him and consulting him for his subjects. This is my prayer for him, and I pray that God will also empower his family to give him the requisite support to achieve much more than he has achieved today.”
