SSANU/NASU Delta State Council Urges Calm As Members Await Implementation Of New Salary Agreement By DTSG
The leadership of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of SSANU/NASU, Delta State Council, comprising the four state-owned universities in Delta State, has called on its members to exercise patience while awaiting the Governor’s approval for the implementation of the 2026 renegotiated salary agreement.
The call was made by the Chairman of the SSANU/NASU Delta State Council, Comrade Matthew Eyuren, on behalf of the Executive Committee, during a meeting of the Coordinated Unions of State-Owned Tertiary Institutions in Delta State held on August 19, 2026, at the Senior Staff Club, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.
Eyuren appealed to all non-teaching staff of the four state-owned universities to de-escalate tension and agitation, citing the readiness of the worker-friendly Governor to approve the newly negotiated salary agreement for implementation.
Responding to concerns over the implementation of the agreement by the Federal Government and other state-owned universities, Eyuren allayed the fears of members, noting that states such as Adamawa, Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers, and Kwara, among others, had already commenced implementation of the new salary structure.

He stated that Delta State, popularly known as the “Big Heart” and the “Finger of God,” would not require unnecessary pressure or reminders, as the Governor had repeatedly demonstrated his commitment to prioritising workers’ welfare.
According to him, there was therefore no need for industrial disharmony over the matter, as all relevant documents had already been submitted to the Governor through the Commissioner for Higher Education.
He added that the documents had also been forwarded to the managements and governing councils of the four state-owned universities in Delta State.
Eyuren further commended the Governor and Visitor to the four state-owned universities for the prompt payment of workers’ salaries across the state.
He urged members of SSANU and NASU to remain calm, patient, and hopeful, assuring them that the leadership remained committed to protecting their interests and ensuring the successful implementation of the renegotiated salary agreement.
