The Ochuko Ighene 1 of Oruarivie-Abraka Kingdom of Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Engnr. Williy Akora, has said that his decision to use a tricycle, popularly known as keke, on his wedding day was borne out of a desire to encourage people to get married despite their poor financial state.

Speaking to Oasis Magazine, during an interview at his Abraka residence, he opined that what was important on the wedding day of a couple was the love that existed between the two, and not what was spent during the ceremony.

He added: “I have several cars in my compound, but wanted to prove a point to intending couples, as a motivation that can help them pull through their marriage plans.”

According to him, some persons approached him at the event ground commending him for using the keke instead of his cars, describing the act as a demonstration of humility.

Continuing, he said it was a test of the love of his wife, applauding her for not objecting to this decision.

“I killed two cows on my wedding day, so it could not have been the economic situation that made me do this,” he averred.

Sir Willy called on would-be couples to believe that their wedding day is possible, stressing that even if it meant using their legs in place of a vehicle, they should go ahead.

Furthermore, he commended family members, chiefs from the community, the Divisional Police Officer, Abraka, CSP Kpokpo Douye for their contribtion towards the success of the event.

On the said day, the couple, Sir Willy Akora and his wife, Joyce made their way to Royal Crown Ministries, Abraka for the blessed marriage and thereafter hosted friends, family and well-wishers for a grand reception at Abraka Model School, Abraka.
